This is true for everyone, including celebrities, who often keep details about their intimate lives under wraps.

However, Camila Cabello, formerly of Fifth Harmony, has chosen to be open about her experiences.

She recently shared insights into her first relationship at age 20, which she credits with broadening her perspective.

During an appearance on The Armchair Expert podcast hosted by Dax Shepard, Cabello reflected on her past.

She talked about her relationship seven years ago with Matthew Hussey, a relationship coach, writer, and internet personality.

She had been following him even before they started dating, due to his popular dating advice podcast.

“It was beautiful,” she described her first time, adding, “I had my first relationship at that time.

“I had actually listened to [Matthew’s] podcast before … because he had, like, a dating podcast. And he is married now, so congratulations.”

She went on to say, “It was late for my first relationship. I was 20. That was my first time having sex.

“First lovemaking was at 20, 21. … It was literally lovemaking. It was beautiful.”

Their relationship, which spanned just over a year from 2018 to 2019, was a learning experience for her.

Cabello also expressed happiness for Hussey’s subsequent marriage, showing appreciation for his positive influence in her life.

“He was a really great person. It was like the perfect first relationship. It really expanded my world because he wasn’t in my industry too.

“It was like, ‘Oh my God, have you ever seen Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and have you ever seen Studio Ghibli films?’” she explained.

Hussey himself has spoken highly of Cabello in the past. In a 2018 interview, he called her “an incredible human being.”

The public’s reaction to Cabello’s candid sharing has been mixed. On social media, responses varied from support to criticism.

Some users felt it was unnecessary to share such personal details.

“I feel like she needs to learn that not everything has to be shared with the public,” one user commented.

Another expressed, “Lmaooo girll we didn’t asked this is private thing…What do you want us to do??”

However, there were those who defended her openness, with one saying, “I feel like you need to grow up. She’s a real human and artist and most people already knew this anyways she was asked a question on a podcast she answered.”

Another supporter added, “That’s really sweet. Everyone’s experience is different and it’s nice to hear she had a positive one.”

Austin even praised Camila’s work in her “Havana” music video.

“I thought it was really cool. She did a little acting in there, which was dope. She looked really beautiful as well.

“She’s really doing her thing right now and I’m very, very proud of her,” he told Seventeen magazine.

Louis Tomlinson:

In 2015, Camila was spotted with Louis Tomlinson outside an L.A. nightclub, sparking rumors of a relationship.

The speculation became so intense that #CongratulationsLouisAndCamila trended on Twitter.

However, it remains uncertain if they were more than just friends.

Michael Clifford:
That same year, Camila was seen on a dinner date with Michael Clifford, which set off whispers about a potential secret romance.

Neither party has confirmed what transpired between them.

“It’s just a crush. I don’t look at her, don’t worry. I can’t make eye contact.”

Yet, he later clarified on Instagram Live that they were just friends.

“Me and Camila are friends,” he stated.

“If I want to f–king post a picture with her, I don’t need your approval!”

“Any time he’s there, I get super nervous. I stutter or my hands are shaky,” she revealed.

Despite a deep connection that made her “the happiest I’ve ever been,” the relationship ended in mid-2019.

Shortly after, Camila made a heartfelt plea on Instagram, asking fans to refrain from spreading hate.

She seemingly addressed the split on Instagram, writing:

“To my fans, if you really love me, please do not send people I love and care about hateful things,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, seemingly referring to their split.

“You doing that really hurts me, and it’s so unnecessary and heavy and damaging to add more pain to pain. There’s a real person behind your tweets.

“You spamming them with hateful, insensitive things is really not funny, is causing all of us pain, and doesn’t at all reflect the values I talk about.”

Shawn Mendes:
Perhaps her most publicized romance was with Shawn Mendes, with whom she went public in July 2019.

Their relationship was heavily documented through various interviews and on social media.

In August 2022, Camila was linked with Austin Kevitch.

This relationship seemed to have ended by early 2023, as evidenced by a newsletter from Austin’s dating app, Lox Club, announcing that “Austin is single again.”
